This day
Easier than most
Refreshing the soul
And reminding me of
Normalcy.
What can be
Is today.
Maybe not tomorrow,
But I rejoice in
Today's ease and ability.
Storms can't last forever
The peace that overtake after violent winds destroy
Feels like a glass of cool water
A perfect summer day
A sweet tune on a piano
Or beholding children play
Wonder
I wonder
Will this contentment stay?
Seeing the world in rosy hue
And thinking to myself
Thank you, God, for today.
I wrote this poem in February 2022. My husband and I were visiting his sister and brother-in-law in San Diego and I had to pause to take in the beauty of the moment. It touches on normalcy, loss, joy, hope, contentment, and peace.
